Professional career

After completing his commercial training and gaining a degree in business administration, Günther Buck started his career as a management board assistant at Nordsee GmbH. He became head of the business management department in Switzerland and Germany (cosmetics, ice cream & frozen foods).

In 1987, he became general commercial manager of Elida Gibbs GmbH, a subsidiary of Deutsche Unilever GmbH.

From 1989 to 1998, he was finance director and FMCG director for various subsidiaries of the Unilever group in Germany and the rest of Europe.

From 1998 to 2000, he was European finance director, responsible for Unilever's European bakery business. From 2000 to 2002, he was European category finance director for one of Unilever's leading global product categories and finance director of its Dutch food business.

From 2002 to 2007, he was a vice president of global supply management and CEO of a European supply company.

From 2007 to 2008 he was vice president of global bioenergy supply management for Unilever's global biofuel taskforce. He set up International Expert Consulting GmbH in 2008.br>
